Time does not actually slow down in danger. In 2007 David Eagleman dropped 20 people 31 metres at a Dallas free-fall ride. Each wore a wrist chronometer flashing digits faster than normal vision can read. Free-fall did not improve their reading. Only the memory of the fall got denser.

In 2007, neuroscientist David Eagleman did the test. Twenty people. Dropped thirty one metres into a safety net. At a Dallas free-fall ride called SCAD. On each wrist, a perceptual chronometer. Numbers flashing too fast to read at normal speed. If time actually slowed in danger, they would see the numbers.

They could not. Not in free-fall. Not on the ground. Same accuracy. Same blurred digits. Time did not slow down.

What slowed was their memory. High-arousal events flood the amygdala. You record more frames per second. So when you replay it, slow motion.
